This is week 1 of our six-week fully resourced English planning which has been centred around ‘Escape from Pompeii’ by Christina Balit. Watch your class engage with the story as they follow a Roman boy’s experience of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius In AD79.
Our fully resourced English planning based on 'Escape From Pompeii' includes 30 x 1 hour English lesson plans written for Years 3 and 4. All Learning Intentions come from the National Curriculum for Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation. During this unit, the children have three extended writing tasks: •Narrative and Free Verse Poetry •Recount Writing •Narrative Writing In addition, many grammar aspects are explicitly covered: expanded noun phrases; pronouns for clarity, cohesion and to avoid repetition; commas after fronted adverbials, conjunctions, organising a paragraph around a theme and punctuating direct speech. This scheme has been written with teachers’ time in mind! All resources you need- hand drawn images, differentiated activities, hand-outs, posters for the Working Wall and word banks- are included, ready for you to print out. Our lessons include bespoke teaching videos so you don’t need to spend hours creating or finding your own quality resources: we have done it all for you!
